If you follow my work, you know that the majority of what I photograph is outdoors. In fact, when I first started shooting I avoided doing sessions in-home as much as possible. I just loved shooting outdoors. But what I realized through the years, and began to embrace, was that when you photograph people at home, there is such an amazing comfort level for them, and that is a beautiful thing. I also think that documenting families in their living space, where many people spend years and years of their lives, is a wonderful keepsake. I have lots of faded memories in my mind of the different homes I lived in as a child, but not many photos of them. It would be great to be able to look back at those places where we lived, played, and grew. All my Newborn Sessions are in the families homes, and I really feel it makes the moments we capture so much more personal.
Below are some of my favorite moments from my session with little Caleb and his family. I can’t clearly describe that magic connection between a mother and child, but when I am given the opportunity to capture it, it speaks for itself. These are the kinds of sessions that give me the warm fuzzies and leave me proclaiming to the world how muchI love my job, because I truly do.
