The Lento Family :: Hamilton Family Photographer

{ The Lento Family :: Hamilton Family Photographer } We had such a beautiful Fall day for this session. If my memory serves me, it was warmer than usual for that time of year. We took advantage of the mild weather and headed to Sayen Gardens for their Portrait Session. This garden is a pretty wonderful place. Even at the end of November you can still find lovely purple blooms and rich bright colors. Can’t ask for a better backdrop for our session. The kids ran and explored, and stopped long enough for me to grab some fun shots. “Room to breath” is always a good thing when planning your family session. Especially with multiple children, picking a place where they can focus more on their surroundings, lends itself to a more stress free photography environment. They don’t see me with a camera, they see the path a head, the bright flowers, or the pretty pond. I can’t wait to head back to this garden in the Spring. It’s been such a roller coaster of a winter, weather wise, and I am so ready for warmer days. Till then, I will just revisit my 2013 sessions and count the days till I’m basking in the warm sun again!

Thanks for joining me on the blog and I hope you enjoy my photos of these adorable kiddos!

Stay Warm!

– Jennifer

Princeton Photographer { Family + Child Favorites from 2013 }

{ Happy New Year! }  Hello, Friends! I can’t believe that 2014 is upon us. Last year seemed to fly by! It was filled with fabulous opportunities and new challenges. I was surrounded by clients who feel more like friends, and new families that I adored documenting as I got to know them. I reached new goals, and I know that I could not have done it without all the support and encouragement from my wonderful community of fellow photographers, friends and fans! For this, I THANK YOU all for a great year!

I thought it might be fun to ring in 2014 by looking back at some of my favorite family + child shots from 2013. As I went through my archives, it was apparent to me that I could have easily chosen a ton of photos to show. I become so emotionally attached to my images and I tend to love so many of them. This is a mere hand full of shots that stood out in my mind for one reason or another: the genuine interaction between parent and child, an amazing smile, a wonderfully candid moment, or just an amazing connection that was made during the shoot.

Shutter Starr Photography will be taking most of January to plan, re-organize and (finally!) blog sessions and events from 2013. I look forward to updating the website and the blog to my most recent work. I am also very excited to share some of the things that have been brewing over here. One of those things, is I have been getting back to my roots and shooting film again, which is something I plan on integrating into my Packages for 2014- but I am getting ahead of myself- that is a whole other blog post :).

I hope you enjoy this look at some of the lovely children and families who have stood in front of my camera in 2013. Join me in 2014 for another amazing year!

Warmly,
Jennifer

The Wozniak Family :: Princeton Family Photographer

I think that blogging a Family Session from a beautiful Fall day is just what I needed on this chilly, winter day!

The Wozniak family has been in front of my lens many times. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to document a family through the years, and it’s something that I really love about my job. We were originally going to shoot the session in Washington’s Crossing, PA, but due to scheduling issues we ended up changing the location last minute. We chose our new location on a whim, and it turned out to be a perfect spot.

One thing that stands out to me about this session, is the colors. The natural background can’t be beat, but I especially love how colorful and varied the outfits were. The colors were bright and the patterns were fun! I am so enamored with these colors, that I didn’t even post any of the black and white images. That is a very rare thing for me. I am a huge fan of black and white, but the colors just really speak to me in this instance.

Thanks for joining me on the blog, and I hope you enjoy the images and all the warmth that they exude helps to take some of that chill out of the air!

Let it Snow :: Princeton Children’s Photographer

{ Let it Snow :: Princeton Children’s Photographer } If you are in my neck of the woods, then this white stuff was part of your Sunday as well. I honestly didn’t even think the snow was going to stick. We were expecting a light dusting, but we were much more excited to get some real snow! As soon as my youngest son saw those big fluffy flakes coming down, he needed to get out there. At that point there wasn’t enough to really play in, but that didn’t seem to matter. After 30 minutes we were back inside warming up. Shortly after heading inside, my oldest decided he was now ready to venture out there. There was no way my youngest was going to miss out on a second round of fun, so he suited back up, too.  We all headed into our backyard, which had now transformed into a beautiful winter wonderland, for more snow play. It’s such an utter joy to watch the kids frolic in the snow. If we let them stay out there for hours they would have. Throwing snow, catching it on their tongues, rolling around in it- it was pure bliss for My Boys. I, personally, am not much for the cold, but it’s worth it to see that type of happiness. When they finally came inside, we did our typical post-snow routine: hot cocoa with extra marshmallows. We know the snow won’t last long, but we hope to see some more of it before years end!

Stay warm everyone and have a great day!

The Brower Family :: Princeton Photographer

Hello Everyone! As I return from a little Thanksgiving break, I am excited to share some sessions with you. First up is the lovely Brower Family.  I met them at a great park in Princeton this past October. What can I say about our experience? Well, some sessions are just easy-breezy. This was one of them. The kids were totally comfortable just being themselves in front of the camera, and we just focused on having fun. The park we were at was nice and big, so there was plenty of space to run and explore. This was, literally, a walk in the park. I think one of the best pieces of advice I can give to families as they prepare for their sessions, is to not over think it. I am all about fabulous outfits that look nice together, that can definitely add to the beauty of the shoot, but nothing is more lovely than a family who is relaxed and happy. The beautiful Fall colors surrounded us, adding to the lovely day. It’s nice to look back at these Autumn sessions as we prepare for winter to really kick in!Princeton Photographer
