Slice of Life Session – Giving Back :: Hamilton Children’s Photographer

When Maya said she wanted to cut her long lovely hair and donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths,  I knew I had to document it. It made for a perfect Slice of Life Session. My Slice of Life Sessions are just what they sound like. It is about documenting everyday life. They are not about matching outfits and seeking out epic locations, they are about the beauty in the everyday.

Maya was very brave as we walked into the hair salon. At first she was a bit apprehensive, but she got a lot of encouragement and support from everyone there. After she settled into the hair dresser’s chair, it was a go! What a fun thing it was to document the transformation. I loved her long hair, but the new cut is just plain adorable. And all for a good cause! It’s a win-win!

I ended up using one of the images for The Collective 10 project this week. Our theme is “Giving Back”, so you can see how this is a perfect fit. Please head over there to check it out when you have a chance!

If you have an everyday activity you want to capture as a Slice of Life Session, reach out to me and let me know. I adore documenting them.

Benjamin Turns 5 :: Princeton Children’s Photographer

{ Benjamin Turns 5 :: Princeton Children’s Photographer } As a photogapher, you can imagine, that I take photos of my children practically everyday. But I still schedule in time to do their annual portraits. That really is the only way I can guarantee that these milestones are documented. Thankfully, both My Boys, enjoy getting their photos taken and are very comfortable in front of my camera.

For Ben’s 5 Year Portraits we headed to two different locations. First we went to Terhune Orchards to take advantage of the festive Fall backdrop and the tasty treats. The flowers that were in bloom were absolutely gorgeous, and Ben always enjoys picking out pumpkins, gourds, and fresh fruit from the farm store. Who wouldn’t want to be involved in a shoot where you get to eat?!

After Terhune, we headed to an abandoned farm house in our town that is set in a quiet field. I have always had a warm place in my heart for it. And for this part of the shoot, Ben was quite happy to don a hat and tie for his photos. I love that my kiddos enjoy dressing up! All in all, we took a beautiful Fall day and turned it into a fun shoot where Ben got to do some of his favorite things and I got to capture it all. It was a win-win.

I hope you enjoy these shots of my youngest guy and have a great Friday, too!

p.s.- If you want to check out some more shots of My Ben and his hats from last year, Two Bright Lights featured him on their blog recently. You can check it out here : Benjamin and His Hats.Princeton Children

The Thomas Family :: Newtown Family Photographer

{ The Thomas Family :: Newtown, PA Family Photographer } Where do I begin with this session? The colors? The location? The adorable giggling girls? All of those elements came together to make a great session. Fall has always been a favorite time of the year for me to shoot. Nature gives us such an amazing gift in the Fall with the beautiful, rich colors. I love how the pinks and browns really pop against the Fall foliage. While the weather has been a bit crazy recently, with all the ups and downs, we had a really nice day for our session. The bright sun warmed up the crisp Fall air just enough to keep us from needing any warm coats.

Our session took place at a beautiful historic building in Bucks County, PA. We explored the area and stopped for shots when we were inspire by the setting. The sisters were so much fun to photograph. They laughed constantly and when I revisited the photos I could still hear them giggling!

So far it has been a very busy season for Shutter Starr Photography. So many wonderful families and little ones that have been in front of my camera. I am so grateful that all my wonderful clients keep my schedule so full!  As I find pockets of time I will be sure to share more images with you. For now, I hope you enjoy these shots of the Thomas Family, and that they get you excited for your upcoming portrait session!

Have a great day!

Allentown Children’s Photographer :: Grace & Family

{ Allentown Children’s Photographer ::  Grace & Family } Good morning! I am looking forward to getting back to business as usual now that I am home from a wonderful few days off! First up is this recent family session I shot. Something sunny and colorful seemed like a good choice to start off this overcast day!

I love when I go through my images from a shoot and I can’t help but smile as I look at them. This is how I felt about my session with adorable Grace and her family. We had a bright afternoon filled with lush greens and blues. There was the perfect amount of sun-kissed light shining on us. It really was a perfect backyard setting. Grace picked flowers, ran through the grass, and just enjoyed the afternoon. I was happy to run along with her and document all the fun! These kind of summer evenings seem to be few and far between this last month. We’ve had so many humid and rainy days, it was nice to fit in a sunny, dry shoot!

Solid Sound Music Photographer :: All Around the Festival

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to document the Solid Sound Music Festival for Relix Magazine. I have shot the  festival, which is curated by Wilco and held at MASS MoCA, for all three of the years that it has been held. It is an amazing gathering of music, arts, food, and even family oriented activities. This year my husband and children came along for the ride. I didn’t actually get to see them much, as I was running around from morning till night, but they had a wonderful experience.

I wanted to share with you some images that show life around the festival. One of the reasons I enjoy documenting this type of event is that there is so much more than just the music. Here is a little peek into my Solid Sound experience. The road trip, the camping, and exploring the festival.

If you would like to see some of my music shots, head over to the Relix Gallery. You can also view more samples of my music photography at Shutter Starr Music.
